OVERVIEW
A bar stool made from knotless pine wood harvested in Fagerstrand, Nesodden. Heavy planks were cut eight years ago and stored outdoors for seven years. Since last year the pieces have been stored inside to complete the drying process. Due to eight years outside there are signs og fungal growth in parts of the wood. Some parts became unusable and some got developed interesting patterns due to fungus, almost like sour wood. All pieces were cut and planed down before being turned on the lathe. The four horizontal stretchers are a like, same with the legs. The shapes and the organic curves are repeated in the stretcher and the legs. The stretchers provide support for the foot and ties the whole stool togheter.
JUPITER is designed for bars and cafés with high tables. Due to footrests on all sides, as well as a round seat, the stool has no front or back side. It allows you to turn your body sideways facing your partner or friend group around a table, or in a single direction at the bar counter. Some people go to cafés to connect with others, while others go to be alone.
